Problem updating from within a query.

I created a query with 2 tables. There is a single field that combines the two tables. When I try to maintain the table data in table maintenance, everything is fine; when I try to maintain the tables from within the query, it will not update and it just beeps.



I have tried three flavors of the join, inner, left and right.

I figure it is a data issue, but i cannot figure out how to find the errant data.

One of the two columns that were linked did not have an index it. When i tried to put a unique index, there were duplicate values, so once the duplicates were deleted, the index added, everything worked fine.
