New to Access-How to enter text into combo box to auto suggest.

I have a combo box thats being populated by another table. I need to enter text so that it can autosuggest entries only from the table. As of right now I can't enter text and must choose an entry from the drop down list. I read that the standard combobox should autocomplete but I am not getting that feature. Thanks in advance.

Don't know what would prevent typing in the combobox. Is AutoExpand property set to Yes?

If you still need help, would have to review the db if you want to provide. Follow instructions at bottom of my post.

Autoexpand is set to Yes by Default, and so should work, unless you've changed that Property.

Unless the Combobox Control is corrupted, which is possible, my guess would be that the Form's AllowEdits Property is set to No. This setting essentially 'freezes' Comboboxes, not allowing data to be entered nor a selection to be made from the dropdown.

Linq, OP said must choose an entry from the drop down list so apparently the control is allowing entry but not by typing, which I have never encountered.

I know he said that, but OPs are not noted for accurate reporting, and there's at least the possibility that he actually hasn't made a selection, yet, but only knows that it does drop down, as it will in the situation I described. If he actually can make a selection, I see no other possible cause, assuming that he wrote this and code hasn't been used to block entering text, freehand, except that the Combobox is corrupted. Of course, the test for corruption of a Control is the same as the fix, you delete the Control and re-create it.

Can't disagree with that! Maybe OP will post clarification.
