Exclamation Need help with Tables, Forms, Relationships together

Here is my scenerio, I currently have a table that has information for meters that are installed in the field (this includes an "id number" for the meter and all of the specs plus the house number and street name where the meter is). Over the next few years we will be changing out all of the old meters with new ones. I have set up a blank database for entry of the new information when they get put into stock. What I would like to be able to do it have a form so when I enter the new meter information I can type in the id number for the old meter and the rest of the information fills in automatically. Each record in the form would then show the new meter for a specific address and the old meter for that address so that can be printed out. Now that I type this maybe it would be better to have the old information pop up from entering the address into the new information? I can not figure out how to go about this or if it is possible. Thank you in advance for your help!

Read this article on Database Principles
    http://forums.aspfree.com/attachment...2&d=1201055452 and research Normalization.

Create a data model (this can be on a piece of paper) using the
ER Diagramming info and the 12 Steps to better data bases at

I recommend you get the big picture in mind clearly before you get to Forms etc.
    Good luck with your project.

    Thanks! I will read those.

The main thing I want to be able to do is get the old meter information on the same page as the new meter info without having to retype all of the fields.

Hopefully reading this stuff will help!! Thanks again :-)
