    Tab Control Troubleshooting

Hi. I've tried using Tab Controls in a few different databases, and can't get it to work. I don't know what I am doing wrong! After setting up the tabbed form with the Tab Control Tool, I am unable to type data into the fields. I have tried "Cut & Paste" to place the fields from the "main" form into the tabbed area, and I have tried inserting fields into the tabbed area directly from the Field List. Both ways, it's like the fields are locked and will not allow me to type data or choose data from a drop down box. Hoping someone can give me some troubleshooting ideas. Please.

A tab control is simply a way to organize controls on a form; it would have no effect on whether they are locked. Is the form based on a read-only query?

No, the query is not read only. I have set up the form based on both a query and directly to the tables, both ways I am unable to enter data into the fields.

And the form's Allow Edits property is Yes? Can you post the db here?

The form is based on a read-only query, as I suspected.

The database I sent you did not incude a query (I thought?) How or where do I check if it is read-only and change it?

Open the form in design view. In the form's properties on the Data tab, note the SELECT clause in the Record Source property (that's a query). Reasons a query can be read-only:

I won't pretend to understand your data, but perhaps some of that should be in a subform?
