Are you going to use Mysql in Access?
If yes, this would be more difficult for you as compared with MS Sql as
Microsoft is promoting MS Sql for upsizing access.

Mysql (window version 5.1.36) could be downloaded free in
    http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/mysql/5.1.html

    I'm currently studying Mysql too.
It might be less powerful than MS Sql now but it is fast and small.
They have similar functions but with different syntax somehow.
