Hello,
Computer technician here with very limited code writing experience.
We have a client who is using Access with a custom Switchboard that was written for her years ago by someone else, and she knows next to nothing about how it was put together, and really, neither do I.
She has come upon a problem where all of her switchboard buttons have stopped working. The data in the tables can still be accessed by opening the tables directly, but all of her buttons for lookups, data entry, etc. just do nothing. And old copy of the database from a month or so ago works fine.
The enviornment she is trying to run this in is pretty mucked up, honestly. A desktop and a laptop, both with Dropbox installed. The primary save location for the database is in Dropbox, and she is trying to view the database from her laptop while her assistant is trying to enter data on the desktop in the office. Which results in Dropbox saving multiple conflicted copies of the database.
What's worse, she has Access 2003 and Access 2007 installed on both computers, and judging by the way she has the Office shortcuts set up, she is toggling back and forth between opening the database in '03 and doing so in '07.
I was only brought into this situation at the point that the switchboard functionaity stopped. A database compact/repair had no effect. Using the old version of the database and re-entering a month's worth of data is not an acceptable solution.
Any other ideas?
