    Excel in Access

    Hello,

I need to have the information from an excel file displayed in a new table in my Access DB. unfortunatly, when i tried to link this excel file to my new table, i discovered that it isn't possible to modify the table composition from the access side. You see there were a number of table fields which also transfered over, however for the intents and purposes of my table, are unessasary. I was only wondering if it could somehow connect this excel file to a table in access without changing the excel data.

    Best,

    Imintrouble

If you want the ability to change the actual data via one application and see those changes via the other application then the linked table you created is what you want. If you only want to see certain fields, create a form based on the linked table and omit the fields/controls you do not want to see. (All user interaction with data in Access should be through forms; the users should not have access to the table nor should they even see them).

If you want the data to be separate from each other, import the Excel data into Access as a new table but not as a linked table. You should be able to modify the structure of this table
