Open Excel doc on shared folder from FORM

I have a button on a form and it currently opens an excel spreadsheet using

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\EXCEL.EXE" CCC.xls



in a run app macro...


is it possible to use a similar macro to open a file on a shared drive (located in this folder "K:\Sponsorship and Sales\2011-2012\Premium Seating\Premium Seating\CCC Seating") ????

Should be. Did you try? If this project will have multiple users from different work stations, all will need the K:/ drive mapped, otherwise use UNC pathing in the macro code. UNC pathing means reference server by name instead of a fixed drive path.

it will be different users on different machines...what do yu mean by all will need the k:/ drive mapped?

Each workstation from which this project will run must have a drive location mapped to the K:/ prefix. Check this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/308582. Otherwise, use the UNC path in code.

every computer is already mapped to the k:/ drive

in the runapp macro command line I have tried

\\Ushccharfs01\groupdata\\Sponsorship and Sales\CCC.xls

(placed the file in that folder)

The only double \\ should be at the beginning. And the K: drive path would not be included in the UNC pathing. I of course don't know your file structure but the UNC path must include all folders to drill into the target file. Maybe:
\ \Ushccharfs01\groupdata\Sponsorship and Sales\2011-2012\Premium Seating\CCC Seating\CCC.xls
