    Need Help!

    All,

    I am in the process of building a project management timeline for all employees in my office using MS Access 2007. I currently have a form for each individual to add a records of tasks they perform throughout the day. What I would like to do is create an IIF function (or something equivalent) in the Form/Table. So i would like them to be able to select from a list, one of the following (Pre-Award, Award, Administration) in one field, then from there, I want a list of options to appear dependent upon the previous selection in the next field "secondary task". Is this feasible? Or can I only create expressions in queries? I am not sure what the best approach is.. any ideas?

    Example:

    They select the form
    Choose a date from a list
    Choose their name from a list
    Choose a primary task: (Pre-Award, Award, Administration)
    Dependent upon the Primary Task, I would like a list of tasks to appear for them to select:


    So if they select Administration for Primary Task, they would have the following list of options for secondary task (Contract Monitoring, Acceptance Supply/Service, Payment, Closeout)


    Just for some background.. Each employee fills out this form, which stores a record in a table that it linked to another database that stores all entries from each employee in the office. For ease, id like them to be able to select a primary task and have the list of secondary tasks consolidated based on that selection.

    I hope this makes sense.. all self taught here, so I am open to any suggestions.

    Do you have a data model? Can you post a copy of your relationships window as a jpg fiel?

    Hopefully that works?? I want the layout to include a secondary task list that is dependent upon the selection of the primary task.

    I recommend you work through this tutorial to get a "practical feel" for requirements and database design.
    Too often people jump into Access (or other database software) without a clear understanding of what they
    are trying to do.
    I'm sure that if you work through the tutorial, you will be in much better position to apply what you learn to your own situation.

    And, the forum is here to help if you have questions.
