    Record Count/Change

I have a table with the values as shown below and need a record number/line count next to the number (what I need is shown below the original table info). How do I add the second column of info in Access?

    30
    30
    30
    40
    40
    50
    50
    50
    50
    70
    70
    ______________
    30 - 1
    30 - 2
    30 - 3
    40 - 1
    40 - 2
    50 - 1
    50 - 2
    50 - 3
    50 - 4
    70 - 1
    70 - 2

    Thanks

Can you provide some background as to the real-life application of this? Speaking strictly from a database table perspective, what you want done doesn't provide you with anything productive because a table has no sense of "order". Records in a table are independent of other records in the same table. Is there any other significance other than "this 30 is above that 30"?

The information I provided is just one column of many from a spreadsheet. The number represents the group we have customers classified in and all I'm trying to do is count/put numbers for each customer listed under each grouping in numerical order and not just a total count within each group.

Hopefully that clarifies things a bit.

    Thanks

I think this is going to fall under a case of Access not being suited for this particular task. Maybe someone else knows a simpler way but the only way I can think of would be to to this all in VBA. Depending on the amount of records, you may be better off sorting this in Excel and using the autofill feature to do this for you. It might take you less time to just do it manually than it would to write out the code in VBA.
