    Counseling Database

    Hello everyone,

I'm an above average user of most of Microsoft Office but this is my first adventure using access. I was informed that it would be my best choice to create a tracking database for employee corrective action.

Essentially, what I'm looking to do is below:
    • Create a printable template that supervisors can enter in info regarding an issue and then print this form and also save to the database.
    • Create a drill down box for all employee names that if I want to see how many counselings they've had I can have an "at a glance" birds eye view of their counseling history.
I have reviewed the forums on how to make databases but am kind of at a loss as to what my starting points should be. I don't want to create something only to have to scrap it to start over again.

Any help you could give me or possibly refer me to a database like this you've seen or worked on in the past would be great.

    Thanks

The best way to start is by building a data model.

    Cheers,

I strongly recommend getting a textbook - easily found at Amazon or a big book store. Step by Step, Inside Out, or those published by Thompson that are actual class room textbooks with exercises.

It gives you both the info on the user interface as well as the concepts of what you want to do. To me it is sort of like bricks & morter. Forums are good at the morter - filling in details that are not obvious...but you need the bricks too.
