Link a report to a record

I am generating a report for each record in my data base. I need to generate the report one at a time. For example, if I am viewing data for a record (person) in a data_entry_form, I have a button that generates a desired report - but it generates the reports for all records. I want to generate the report for just the record (ID) I am viewing. How do I link the report to the single participant ID that I am viewing?

set a filter when opening the report:
    docmd.openreport report_name,ac_normalview,, "ID=" & IDtextbox

assuming IDtextbox is the control in the form for ID.
