Export of report to excel stores numbers as text

I have a report that I'm exporting to excel. When I do so, excel shows an error on each cell which states the data is stored as text and not as numbers. Is there a workaround in Access to avoid this?

The fields are a large number field in the access table. Oddly, in the same report, there's a field that subtracts two fields. When exported to excel, those cells are stored as numbers in excel.

Without seeing some real examples all I can suggest is make sure the values being exported are actual numbers and not text

It's probably because they are large numbers. Try multiplying them by 1.0 and export that as the value.
