More trouble with Hyperlinks

I asked a question earlier today on hyperlinks and it was answered. Now I am having trouble with the file extension. while -

strFullFileName = strJobPlansPath & strYear & "" & pubLngProposalNo & ".pdf"
FollowHyperlink strFullFileName

works well, I have different file extensions. I have tried -

strFullFileName = strJobPlansPath & strYear & "" & pubLngProposalNo & ".*"
FollowHyperlink strFullFileName

without any success. I have also tried -

strFullFileName = Dir(strJobPlansPath & strYear & "" & CStr(pubLngProposalNo) & ".*")
FollowHyperlink strFullFileName

without any success.
strJobPlansPath =" L:\aaTS\AAFilesToCopy\Job Plans"
strYear - "2023"
pubLngProposalNo = 20231532

Please help.

Note that your code is not showing \ between quote marks. Either post this code between CODE tags or go to Advanced Editor and uncheck "Automatically parse links in text" so \ will not be dropped and this "" will show as "\". Has to be done with every posting and if you edit a post, do it again.

Can't use wildcard character. Need a specific full name of file to open.
