Importing special characters

I have to import data to a table where the colum includes numerical, alphamerical and text values, this data also includes values such as 1:2, 1:4, >10, <10 and other formats, when I import the data, every field with a special character is not imported, how can I fix this issue?

Sorry, that's an important part I left out, I am importing an excel file using the external data -> excel feature

Sounds like you have only numerical data in the first 8 rows which access uses to determine data type.
