    .mdb under Access 2010

I have a rather complex database in Access 2003, .mdb format. I understand the conversion to 2010 (similar to 2007) can be tedious.

I further understand that it is possible to run in .mdb format under Access 2010.

I would like to hear expert opinions ( I am most definitely NOT an Access professional), on the advisability of doing that: what features I would not be able to use, or if it is even worth leaving the coccoon of 2003.

    Thank you.

My understanding is that conversion to 07 is not complicated, as all you have to do is choose the 'save as' and pick your format.

the most significant thing you should be aware of, IMO, is messing around with features that are either new or depricated. e.g. - don't add new feature from 10 that are not available in 07 or 03, and vise versa.

I did this one time in 2010 and it corrupted my ..accdb file.

I understood the BIG jump was from 2003 to 2007, and not so much from 2007 to 2010. No?

I guess my bottom-line questions are:

    1) Is it possible/advisable to run .mdb format under Access 2010?

    2) What functionalities am I missing by not converting to the .accdb database file format?

    Thanks.

I think can run mdb's in 2010. but I think adding features to it that are only available post-03 will corrupt it.

and 2 - you're missing a lot because 07 and 10 are much better than previous versions.

Can anyone suggest a guide to migrating from 2003 to 2010?

I have a fairly complex (lots of forms, queries and macros) "front-end", with all data stored in a separate, data only "back end".

I remember, in working a bit with 2007, that there were problems with calendar.ocx, macros, and some "security" issues. At the time, it was enough to cause me to give up and stick with 2003.

    Thanks.
