    Access Version for Database build

    Hi,

I am trying to figure out what is the most important thing here. If I look up the version of Access I have, it shows 2002, on the top menu it shows format 2007-2016 and my company just upgraded to Office 365. Is there anything that I have the ability to change that would be beneficial? This database will be split front/backend.

    Thanks for your input!

    Eric

There are advantages and disadvantages to updating to 365. Although the points listed by Bruno are all true, 365 has developed a reputation for having lots of bugs at least one of which is still not fixed after almost 3 years. if you do decide to update Access to 365, the default installation is now 64-bit. However, I recommend you install the 32-bit version to avoid issues with APIs and some older references/ActiveX controls that you may have.

One last thing. You say you are running Access 2002 but that the file format displayed is 2007-2016 (ACCDB). That isn't possible as A2002 cannot open ACCDB files.
So I'm wondering whether you actually have the Feb 2020 version of Access 365. That will be shown as 2002. The latest version I have is 2011 (Nov 2020 update)

That would be the build number, not the app version.

2002 wouldn't be the build number. You'd probably have to go back to Access 2.0 in 1994 or so for that to be true.
The build number that I have for A365 version 2011 is 13426.20332

With Access 365 I find the details confusing. To me, version has always been e.g. Access 2000, then 2003 and so on.
However, this is the text of a M$ link to the last January update and you'll notice it is "version 2002" so apparently you don't have to go back as far as you think.

    January: Version 2002 (Build 12527.20194)
Last update I found was October - version 2009
