    Question Installation Conflict with A2002 & A2007

I am a developer & have installed Access 2002 runtime into clients computers that also have access 2007 in it... every time the client wants to use Access 2007 that program now has to reinstall.. How can I stop this & fix the computers that have the conflicts between Access 2002 runtime & Access 2007...

My client has already installed A2007 how do I make that choice.. I use InstallShield 12 Express to install my programs & I install Access 2002 runtime every time I install my program but when Access 2007 or Access 2003 in in the program Access 2002 runtime & Access 2007 or Access 2003 colide with each other making Access 2007 or Access 2003 if used have to reinstall.. IMO, I'm wondering why you installed RT 03 on a computer that already had a newer version. standard for MS products is to support older file extensions on newer versions. I assume you don't need RT03 at all on these computers. Why not just take it off? was it part of the installation package automatically?

And ... like weekend has said, I don't believe there is anyway to fix this. I've crawled the web numerous times when i tried to do it and never found an article with a fix. I had 03 and 07 full programs on one machine. There was no problem except the reconfiguration that had to happen everytime you opened the program that was not opened previously.

If you are distributing an MDE, just use 07. It reads them.

Another option you have is to use the 07 ADE packager that comes from MS instead of using a shield. There are options in the packager that allow you to distribute the program without the runtime environment included. the website is: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

I also wrote a guide to using it: http://www.ajenterprisesonline.com/f...&highlight=ade

    Thanks Adam
My program automatically installs A2002 runtime as most of my users do not have Access of any kind in their computers But for those few that have A2003 & A2007 it's a realllllllll conflrict.. The only way I have found a solution is to look into the computer during the installation process to see if a Registered A2003 & A2007 is in the computer & now A2010 is out... What is a Developer to do... I wish Microsoft would mad a fix for this.....!!!!
