I have noticed that Access has added duplicate tables in the relationship screen. What is causing Access to do that? Is there something I need to change to avoid that?

If a table is used in more than 1 relationship for multiple fields in one table, it must be duplicated in relationship builder. This is normal.
It does indicate a non-normalized data structure or perhaps a recursive relationship. Provide a snapshot of your relationships or the db for analysis.
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
After reading your comments. I reviewed the table relationships. There were two cases of duplicate "tables". I soon realized that there was an unnecessary extra link in one case. In the other case, one link was in a combobox in the child table (used to select a member from the parent table), rather than in the parent pointer field in the child table. I am not sure how they happened, but it would have happened early in the development of the db last year. I removed those links and hid the extra "tables", and Access seems happy. Thanks for your helpful comments.
What I said originally in this post was incorrect. Since I can't delete this post, I'll just say this instead.
