I have been using Excel to keep track and analyze betting opportunities in college basketball and other sports. My file has become quite large and I am trying to migrate to Access. My Excel flat file consists of the following column headings and each row is a game:
- Game date
- Team ("Away team")
- AScore ("Away Team Final Score")
- APtSpread (Away Team Point Spread)
- Anumber1 (proprietary)
- Anumber2 (proprietary)
- Anumber3 (proprietary)
- Anumber4 (proprietary)
- AConf (Away Team Conference)
- AResult ("W" if Away Team's Score plus or minus Away Team Final Pt Spread is greater than Home Team Score ("L" if less than Home team Score)
- Hteam (The following columns are the same information above but for the Home Team)
- HScore
- HPtSpread
- Hnumber1
- Hnumber2
- Hnumber3
- Hnumber4
- HConf
- HResult
I tried importing the above Excel file into a blank Access database, but the Table Wizard analyzed it and left in the form titled "Sheet 1", not "Table 1". The Wizard's message basically says that the file is "too flat" and needs more "relationships." Each row is a game
By the way, Access began with the first data row in the file and assigned an ID of "1", then "2", "3", etc.
I have looked through three books I have on using Access, but I just can't figure out what I need to do to solve this.
I apologize for what is most like a very simple question, but I would appreciate help to "get the ox out of the ditch."
Thank you and best regards,
Bob
