    Problems with Access 2007 runtime

    Hello All

I'm sure that this problem will come up again and again. After the euphoria of using Access 2007 runtime and being delighted by its simplicity to deploy, I was brought swiftly back to earth over the problems with macros.

Before converting to the runtime extention, I made sure that macros were enabled in the Trust section. This works fine when 2007 is installed, the dreaded security error box does not appear.

However when deployed in a non-Office (Access) environment the dreaded security box appears. What I fail to understand is that when writing the code for Access, the programmers failed to let Access identify macros written in a previous version of Access. How can they be a security risk?

To get to the point, I have spent all day trying to find an "expert" out there who can solve the problem "How do I prevent the security box from appearing"? I know only a simple OK can let the user proceed, but to have to ask a non-computer literate person to understand why it's there is simply not on.

    So please HELP!!!

    Hello Ajetrumpet

Unfortunately I have been there, done that to no avail. Have tried every single site that informs you that they have the correct solution, but none actually solve the problem.

    Hello All
Just to let you know that I have resolved the runtime error message problem. This is the first time I have ever offered advice on this forum. To begin log on to:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb501030.aspx

Here you will be given a comprehensive overview for creating a stand-alone runtime application that does not begin the dreaded macro warning. However, when compiling my Access programs I always enable Macros in the Trust Centre.

There is one place where you must not follow Microsoft's advice. You will come across a heading called:

    Install subfolder

Microsoft's solution shows a subfolder with a drive letter in front of it. Ignore the drive letter as this generate an error informing you that you cannot use colons.

When completed it runs the program without any errors or hangups. It is advisable to delete your original Access Runtime program as this generates an error when installing because it recognises that there is a runtime program already installed.

At the age of 75, I fill that I have now given something back to the Access community.

    Hello Ajetrumpet

I forgot to let people know that you must have also downloaded Access Developer Extensions as well as the Runtime files. These programs can be found at:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

    And:

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

Hope this helps as many people as it has helped me.
