    About Sharing The Database

Hello there everyone, how are you all?I hope everyone is having a great time. So, I have a question about databases and the things I have found on the internet could not answer my question completely.Lemme ask you about it.I have made a database that will be shared upon a lot of computers.(On a network).First of all,how is splitting my database going to make things easier?I didn't get it I would appreciate any easy explanations. And one more thing I would like multiple people to do entries at the same time is that possible with access?I have seen something like "Only 1 people can make entries at one time."That's really bothering is it not?Anyway those are my questions. Thanks for helping

When you split your database, this allows it to be used by several people at the same time.
All tables are moved to a shared back end database which is stored on the server.
Everything else goes into the front end database with links to the tables in the backend..
Each user needs their own copy of the database on their own hard drive.
They MUST not share the same copy of the front end or corruption will occur

The structure allows each user to use different parts of the database at once.
However each record is locked to other users when it is being edited by one user to prevent 'write conflicts'.

When the first user has finished editing a record, it is then unlocked for other users
