    Linking tables

Dear Forum users ; I am rather new to Access ! I would like to link a few tables.
Table 1 ; Fixture Number, Vessel, Charterer, Owner
    Table 2 ; Ports
    Table 3 ; Berts & Cargoes
The idea is to have one vessel which goes to several ports and in these ports she loads several cargoes at several berths.... I get stuck a little here
Is this a question I may ask in this forum or am I a hopeless beginner ?

Sorry to say we can't send your vessel out or get it to load cargo....

More seriously can you clarify whether you mean
    a) link to 3 tables in an external database
    Or
    b) create a query using fields from the 3 tables which are in your current database

What are the names of the tables? If it's Table1 etc, you really need to provide meaningful names.
Do the tables have primary key fields. If so which are they? If not, add them
Does table2 have any other fields?
Do the tables have any common fields? If not, you can't link them to make a query.

    If I don't know that I don't know, I don't know whether to answer

Thanks for your quick comments ridders52 ! Maybe I better build a few tables the way I think they should look like and send the relationship overview ? Or is there a way to drop my dbase example ?

    A build-up I would have on fly.

    tblPorts: PortID, PortCountry, PortName, ...
    tblPortBeths: PortBerthID, PortID, BerthDescription, ...
    tblOwners: OwnerID, OwnerName, OwnerCountry, ...
tblVessels: VesselID, [FixtureNumber], VesselName, ... - I don't know what is Fixture Number, so I was not sure belongs it to this table or not
    tblVesselOwners: VesselOwnerID, VesselID, OwnerID, ValidFrom
tblRoutes: RouteID, VesselID, StartDate, EndDate, RouteDescription, ...
tblRoutePorts; RoutePortID, RouteID, PortID, ArrivalDate, LeavingDate.
    tblClients: ClientID, ClientName, ClientCountry, ...
tblDeliveries: DeliveryID, RouteID, ContractDate, ClientID, ...
tblDeliveryDetails: DeliveryDetailID, DeliveryDescription, LoadingBerthID, LoadingDate, DeliveryBerthID, DeliveryDate, ...
