Tracking each stage and Time spent database

    Hi All,

    Hope you're all well,

    I hope you can help.

I'm not an expert with Access however I can do basics (I think) and have built simple databases before

I need to create a database where i can track individual stage and the time spent in each stage
Data is provided to us on a weekly basis.
The data will include stage updates and new records will get added to the list

    e.g
there could be up to 6 stages for each record. not all records will go through the full 6 stages.
Each record can spend different time in each status

How do I easily create this in access, to work out how many days each record has spent in that stage, and then workout the total days they spent for all the stages. Also with a snapshot so we know which stage each record is

    Hope this makes sense

    Thanks
    Rik

Are Stage and Status the same thing?

Consider a Task or Project that is broken into Stages.
For each Stage, you'd have a StageStartDate...StageEndDate and possibly some notes or descriptive info.
Now, if all Projects don't go through all 6 Stages, what makes a Project have 1,3 or 6 Stages?

The Length of Time in a Stage is EndDate-StartDate.
The length of time spent on a Project is the Sum of Time spent in Each Stage of that Project.

    Thanks

Yes Stage and status are the same thing/

    That makes sense

But what would be the easiest way to keep uploading the new data on a weekly basis. every week the full upload plus new cases will be added
