Access 2002 runtime problems

Hello All



I have recently tried to download the runtime files for Access 2002 only to be met with the dreaded:

"the expected version of the product was not found on your system"

This also occured when I tried to download the security fix:

"Officexp-kb827430-client-enu.exe"

I am at a loss as to how to proceed any further and would appreciate any help in this matter.

My system is running WinXp Professional SP3
Office 2002 SP3

it might be an SP3 problem. there are many documented problems with sp3 for office that seem to be completely random. I'm surprised that you actually know where the 2002 runtime package is. I never did find it. you might want to consider switching to 2007. the runtime for that is still free on the ms website, but it won't be for long, as they are dropping support for their new products within a couple years nowadays, which means that the 2007 runtime package should actually be taken off the freeware market by now.

Many thanks for your reply. I already have the 2007 runtime program and it works fine. My reason for wanting to pursue the 2002 runtime is purely academic. I simply want to crack the problem.
The reason I switched to SP3 from SP2 is that I had received the same error message prior to installing SP3. I thought the SP3 might have solved the problem.
Installing the runtime files for 2002 files seems to be one of the great mysteries of computing, is there anybody out there who has successfully used this program? You can find details at:
