I have a main page that has a combo box, which contains a list of items. I want to be able to open up a subform when I select one of the item in the combo box. How can I do that?
Any help will be appreciated.

Subforms aren't opened, they are always there, displayed on the main form. Link the subform to the combobox using the Master and Child link properties and the data on the subform will change when the combobox selection is made.
Just want to clarify what I am exactly trying to achieve:-
I am in the Main Page where I have created a drop down list of different project opportunities and each of these opportunities have a form for cost estimation. I want that when I select one of these opportunities in the drop down, I should be directed to the respective 'cost estimation form'. But I am struggling with how I can link the drop down item with its respective form. I do not want to change anything from the combo box. Thanks for any possible help.
Based on your discussion in the other thread, I think you're overthinking this and making it more complicated than it needs to be. I'm a firm believer in applying Occam's Razor to database design....the more simple it is, the more effective it will be.
