    How to use CanShrink/CanGrow properties

I have a continuous form, and in order for the form to flow nicely, I'd like the textbox and detail section of the row to shrink/grow based on the contents in the textbox.

How do I accomplish this? I've flipped the properties every which way I can think that makes sense and I cannot get it to work.

Forms do not have the CanGrow/CanShrink properties. Users can press Shift-F2 to open a zoom box to view the entire contents. An improved Zoombox is available (no affiliation) at http://www.accessmvp.com/TomvanStiphout/ZoomBox.htm.

well they do, but they only work when printing the form, not viewing on screen.

There is also this functionality here http://www.lebans.com/cangrow.htm though I have no idea how that would work in a continuous form - I don't think you have a detail section which will vary in height from one record to another

Sure, but the OP didn't want to PRINT the form, therefore not mentioned.

I only mentioned it because the OP was trying to use the properties without success. Just a different way of saying the same thing

    This got me wondering...
has anyone here ever put a report in a sub control on a form? Maybe you could get the can grow feature to work as a sub report on a form...
    EDIT:
Never mind. I was intrigued by the fact that with 2007, the appearance is that the sub control is for a report or form because the control tip text/bubble help suggests as much (to me anyway).
However, it seems you cannot make the source a report when the control is on a form. Makes sense, I guess.

You can from 2010 - and yes can grow works. I have used it for displaying notes on a single form - but they are not editable, you have to have a separate 'note' control.
