If I'm a betting man, that is simply the default assigned by the forum software, which changes based on post count. Starts at Novice, I've also seen Competent Performer and others. That tag can be customized, but many (if not most) members don't, so they get the default.
I asked about that a while back in a thread I started. Seems I went from Competent Performer (which I chose when I set up my profile) to VIP somewhere along the way. Since I'm not a Very Important Person or a Very Intelligent Person I figure it means Very Inconsistent Poster. If wearing glasses counts, it could mean Visually Impaired Person too.If I'm a betting man, that is simply the default assigned by the forum software, which changes based on post count
I'm surprised it would change something you set up, though if that's one of the default options it may have. RuralGuy or Matrix are more familiar with how/when the forum does that. You can change it in User CP to whatever you want.
I know; I'm OK with the current label, whatever it means.
BTW, you posted in said thread

I stand corrected - I tend to use the tag (as well as which version of Access and how many posts) to get some idea of a users knowledge which then sets my expectation of the level of detail required in a response
