    ODBC connection for Access 2016 - results in error

    Hello,
    I have an MFC app that uses ODBC connection to various data sources (Access, excel)etc.

    The connection strings works well with office 2010 versions of MS Access/Excel.
    However with office 2016 , it throws up error.
    Faulting dll : Mso40uiwin32client.dll
    to be specific in file "dbcore.cpp"
    AFX_SQL_SYNC(::SQLDriverConnect(m_hdbc, hWnd, reinterpret_cast<SQLTCHAR *>(pszConnectInput),
    SQL_NTS, reinterpret_cast<SQLTCHAR *>(szConnectOutput), sizeof(szConnectOutput),
    &nResult, wConnectOption));

    This throws an exception.

    If any one on this community is able to help that will be great.

    try linking in the tables via odbc link, instead of code.

    Well, it looks like your Access is 64 bit and the DLL used in the C++ code is 32 bit. (Mso40uiwin32client.dll)
    In the C++, do you have a 64 bit DLL file? (maybe: Mso40uiwin64client.dll)

Please reply to this thread with any new information or opinions.
