    Question Many to one Relationship?

    Hey guys,

So I have two tables, the first table contains a breakdown of employees by job title and their salary and the second table is a comprehensive list of employees and their salaries.

    Table 1

Cook Cook Salary Waiter Waiter Salary

    John 100 Walter 50

    Table 2

    Name Salary

    John 100
    Walter 50

That's sort of a quick look at the layout of the fields in the table. How can I go about taking the name of the employee in the first table, cross-referencing it with the name of the employee in the second table and getting the salary, and filling it into the first table?

    Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum!

I would advise stepping back and doing some reading before moving forward.
Table 1 is designed like a spreadsheet (and my first database )

    A normalized design would be
    WorkerName
    Job
    Salary
    John Cook 100
    Walter Waiter 50
