Count days of month with an activity

I need an query that counts for me the days of a specific month where there was an activity. For instance, I have the following table:

01/01/2016	#1
03/01/2016	#2
03/01/2016	#3
05/01/2016	#4
09/01/2016	#5
12/01/2016	#6
12/01/2016	#7
12/01/2016	#8
19/01/2016	#9
31/01/2016	#10

So for January I would needed counted days: 7 (the double days should be counted as 1)

Make Q1 to pull dates only ,set UNIQUE VALUES = true.
then make Q2 that uses Q1 to count.
