using save as to create an accdb version modifies original file also

I have an old file in access 2000 format which I will call X.mdb. I open it in Access 2013 and do a "Save As" and get a new file X.accdb. However the old file X.mdb, as seen in Windows Explorer is given a new "Date Modified" which is basically the same as that of the new X.accdb file. Just what has been modified?

    Thanks

ANY time you open an excel file it gets a new date stamp.
even if you look at it, it changes.
