Quick Trip: Does German MS Office Suite differ from USofA MS Office Suite?
Scenic View: I'm working on an Access database for a USofA branch office of a German company.
The branch office's system is plugged into the German network. Both myself and the branch office use MS Access 2013.
I completed a piece of work on my computer; the queries and forms worked perfectly.
When I loaded the work on the branch office computer, it did very strange things. I loaded my work on a flash drive and
tried another USofA computer. The work operates perfectly.
I'm beginning to wonder if there are differences between the German and USofA versions. For example, most of the
time the German version will say "Open", but occasionally "öffnen" pops up.
A specific incident: For "Company" the German tables use CompanyID, which is a number of data type Number, as
a foreign key. I built a query to back a report. Foreign key CompanyID is joined to CompanyID in table Company.
I selected the CompanyName field to appear in the results. I never selected CompanyID. I opened Excel. I used
the ODBC to extract the query results.
-- On my USofA computer, Excel shows a company name (Acme Inc).
-- On the German computer, Excel shows the company ID (42).
