This is probably a very unusual question. At least I've never seen this before. It appears that the ODBC connections I'm using to read Oracle data have begun to see certain data types incorrectly. For instance, there is a field called ObjectID which has always been interpreted and used as numeric. Recently, however, after an upgrade to Oracle 12C, these same fields (and a few others) are coming into my Access applications as text. This, of course, causes problems since these fields are key to queries that are crucial to data manipulations throughout several apps. I have found that I can convert the text fields back to numeric and store the data locally (in Access) but this messy and quite time-consuming and tedious.
Does anyone know what could be causing this problem? I just want the data back to the types as they are defined in Oracle itself but it seems the ODBC connections have different plans.
Thanks in advance.
