Make a table for your "unique appliance number" field. Then a 1 to many relationship from that appliance number table to your tblAppliance, or tblOverallResult whichever is the one data is going to be entered in to by user. Depending on what you plan to do with the data you could also have tables for appliance class, fuse size, and location.
Thank you, worked out what I had done wrong but your suggestion also helps.

R. Hicks, it is unwise to link one field from a table to two different tables, demonstrates un-normalized database design.
Andy, it seems you are having troubles with normalization. This article I find is pretty helpful explaining it all without much jargon. Read through it and work through each normal form as you can. It will help!
