    Referential Integrity

Posting to the Forms section because I think the problem may be with the form.

I have two tables that have a relationship in which referential integrity is enforced. I have a form with subform for which I enter data into the two tables, subform being the child.

Things appear to work as intended for the most part. When I open the sub-form separately and try to enter a record, it tells me I can't enter a record.

But when I open the form with subform, it allows me to enter an orphan into the subform. And it stores it in the child table with a null value in the field for the parent ID. I've included a couple screens shots to help illustrate. i hope they're legible.

Is there a record in the order table with a null ID?

Negative on the null value. I have 17 records in the parent table "orders". Their ID's are 70 through 88.

    Thanks
