Updating Excel external data connection to Access Query

    Hello all,

I have added columns to my query in Access. However, when I refresh the data in Excel, the columns appear at the end of the table and not in the specific location that they were placed in access.

Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? I would like my table in Excel to update my table with the columns in the same location that they are in Access when I refers the external data from Access.

    no!!!! :-(

Really? Every time I have to rebuild the link? If I have to do that I have to do a lot of reformatting to column widths and cell txt formatting

Sorry, haven't dealt much with links from Excel. Just brainstorming.

But what do you mean by 'every time' - how often do you add fields to query? Why would you have to regularly modify design?

Changes due to a customer who can't make up their mind on data orientation.

Data orientation? Is data structure normalized?

Suggest you make a copy and experiment with the suggestion offered. At least see if it does make a difference.
