Unhappy just looked at old database and can't login mo permission

I tried to open a old database, still in 2010 format, and the legend 'You don't have permission to open this file. Contact the file owner or an administrator to obtain permission' appears. Now I thought that I was the owner and administrator.
Is there any way around this or have I lost the info in the database?

Are you opening it on the same computer as you did before? Did you set any security before?

It sounds like the Windows 7 permissions settings are no longer allowing you to open that file. You will need someone with administrator privileges on your PC to reset them.

If it is an Access system issue then this is an .mdb file and there is a .mdw file that was part of it that you need...

but you would know about a password with that so instead if it is an Access custom design issue then the developer was grabbing an ID behind the scenes - perhaps machine or Active Directory ID.....

    Otherwise it is OS/permissions.

It may be an ownership thing. I would try copying the file and pasting it somewhere/anywhere. Then, try opening the file you just pasted.
