    Rookie Question - Joins, perhaps?

I am trying to build a super-rudimentary database to keep track of submissions in my insurance agency. We have used a shared Excel file before but it gets too slow and bulky, and quite frankly I'd rather have the flexibility of proper reporting as well.

I am trying to figure out how to use joins properly. Here's my dilemma, and I just know there's a very easy answer but I can't figure it out:

A submission comes in, it gets assigned to an underwriter. It comes in from a source, and that source has contacts. I want to be able to select the source, and have the underwriter default to that source, and have only the contacts connected to that source appear when it comes time to enter the contact name.

I've read up on joins, and it's spoken in true database language without any examples, so I'm sorta stuck.

I'd appreciate any help that anyone can give me.

    Thank you,

    Rob

Maybe you need cascading comboboxes http://datapigtechnologies.com/flash...combobox2.html
How to attach file: http://www.accessforums.net/showthread.php?t=70301 To provide db: copy, remove confidential data, run compact & repair, zip w/Windows Compression.
