Exporting query to .rtf format for word mail merge

I am trying to do something that shoud be very simple, exporting a paramaterized query in Rich Text Format to be used in a mail merge. It took me some time to figure out to use OutputTo instead of TransferText, but now I see my output file is basically garbage. It looks something like this.

Whereas if I manually export it using the export wizard the file exports just fine and merges perfectly with my Word document.

What I'm looking for is a simple solution to this export. I need to automate about 40 of them. If I can get one down pat, I will duplicate this for all my other queries. I've gone down a lot of dead ends. I just want something that works. Listing all the the error messages I've encountered and solutions I've tried would just muddy things up. I'll try your solutions as I get them.

Another false alarm, I hope. I spotted a coding error that fixed the problem. Took me a half a day, but it's working for now. Next time I'm taking a long walk in the park and see if that works and better.
