Format a Label Object in a report

    Hello,
I would like to be able to format a Label Object -- a paragraph in the introduction to a report -- so that some of the text, but not all, can be bold, italics, etc. I know that a field can be made to be .rtf, but can a label object, selected in the design view of the report? I am hoping not to have to use html code for this.

And, relatedly, is a text box always connected to a field, or could a text box be a free-standing paragraph?

    thanks!

I do not believe you can make a label rtf. However, you can access its properties and format the label. While in design view of your report, you can see the available properties via the Property Sheet. Also you can dynamically adjust the properties using VBA. You can use an event for one of the sections, e.g. the On Format event of the Details Section, to place your VBA code.

Whether or not a Textbox control is bound to a field is determined by its Control Source property. You can remove the text from the Control Source property to change a control from Bound to Unbound.
