    But you have non-English characters in your month names. Do you get error with only English letters?

    Are you putting this expression in DefaultValue property or in ControlSource property?

    This is the character set I used --copied from the forum post

    Choose(Month(Now()),"Styczeń","Luty","Marzec","Kwi ecień","Maj","Czerwiec","Lipiec","Sierpień","Wrzes ień","Październik","Listopad","Grudzień")
    But if you look at the text from the immediate window --the accents are gone.

    ? Choose(Month(Now()),"Styczen","Luty","Marzec","Kwi ecien","Maj","Czerwiec","Lipiec","Sierpien","Wrzes ien","Pazdziernik","Listopad","Grudzien")
    Lipiec

    And it works just fine in textbox ControlSource. The accent marks are displayed.

    I am at a loss.

    I've tried it again on another computer and it worked perfectly. I used the same data basa file and the same version of Access. And then I saved it and it works in first computer now. I don't know what was wrong before but problem is finally solved.
