    Error opening Northwind template

In working on the Northwind database to create a simple query, I came across an error.

    http://databases.about.com/od/tutori...ccess-2010.htm

I am on step five (see the website), I click the create button and MS Access 2010 is supposed to download

and prepare my Northwind db copy. it does not. It only gives me the error message.

    Template Northwind.accdb cannot be instantiated.

An unexpected error occurred when opening the template.

Again how do I correct this error?

Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Respectfully,

It looks like you downloaded a template and not a database file.

Okay, but I am following the instructions to the letter. I open MS Access 2010, I selected new tab, I clicked on Northwind, I gave the db a name, and clicked create. Then I got
the error message shown above. How do I vary this procedure to download nathwind_db?

    R,

Is it easier just to download Northwind and the load it into MS Access 2010?

Perhaps the instructions are for working with database files.

Wait a minute! I clicked on the Northwind database icon as instructed. What else must I do?

It says in the tutorial to select sample templates the click on Northwind.

This is different than in the past for loading MS Access 2010 databases.

So that is what I am doing. It does not seem o be working.

    What could be the problem?

I tried using the procedure on another template in MS Access 2010 and everything worked just fine. It is probably
our computer security system here. It will not allow the download. Where else can I download the Northwind database for Access 2010?

I corrected this problem by repairing my MS Office 2010. It is discussed here:

    It corrected the problem.
