    Access Hangs While Scrolling Columns

Couldn't find evidence of this anywhere. For 2nd time this morning, Access 2007 has hung up while I scrolled from left to right through the columns in a linked ODBC table in datasheet view. I understand why it "hangs" while scrolling through rows, but I've never heard of it doing this for columns and I am talking about a complete freeze up here. The first time I gave up after 5 minutes and forced a shutdown since no harm. This time, I have a little bit of unsaved changes, so I'll go for lunch and see what happens!

Anyone had this or know what's going on?

Maybe one of the columns received an update and it is indexed. If scrolling is exiting the field, that is when the field and its index is updated. I could see a large recordset slowing down. The only other things I can think of would be the video drivers for the client machine are being taxed or other processes are running on the same core Access is using.

The tables are backups and read only, so no updating there, and I'm scrolling, not navigating from one field to the next. It did come back, so I did a column count - 157. Unbelievable!

It would be interesting to know what is causing the machine to react slowly. Obviously 157 columns is a lot. But, I am curious if it is a video RAM thing or something else.
