    conversion of access 2013 requirements

I have the following requirements for an Access 2013 database:
Convert the 2008 Access database to Access 2013.
The 2013 database should be a desktop installation, not web.
Can you tell me and/or point me to links (urls), that will tell me how to accomplish the tasks that I just listed above?

Do you mean an Access 2007 database? No conversion required. 2013 will run 2007/2010 db.

    If it's actually a 2003 db, http://www.dummies.com/how-to/conten...abase-to-.html

And keep in mind that while 2013 will run 2007/2010 databases, the opposite isn't true! Once you convert it to 2013 format, people running 2007/2010 cannot run it!

As a general rule, you should always design and save in the lowest common denominator, version-wise, that you're apt to encounter.

Based upon your statement, 'Once you convert it to 2013 format, people running 2007/2010 cannot run it', it sounds like there is a version format for Access 2013 that is not combined with Access 2007/2010, correct? Thus how do you get an Access 2013 format only? Do I need to specifically have Access 2013 installed on my workstation?

linq, I think 2007/2010 will open db created with 2013 if there are not any features utilized that are exclusive to 2013. Same as 2007 opening db created in 2010.

So you are basically saying there really is no difference between access 2007, access 2010, and access 2013?

There are features in the higher versions that cannot run in the lower. There are even features in lower versions no longer offered in higher but will still run - creation of pivot table/chart removed from 2013 but if created in 2007/2010 will still open in 2013.

Versioning is the Access program (.exe) installed on computer, not the database file. There is no indicator for which version an .accdb file was created with. If the file opens then it opens.
