Can one create an Access re-distributional application?

    Hi guys,

i have a perhaps a very stupid question, so please forgive my ignorance: Can one (and is it advisable) create an Access re-distributional application? I.e., write a package that users can install stand-alone on their own PCs, with all of its components - database and front-end?

    Thanks all!

Users would need Access or download and install Access Runtime - free software.

    Hi June7

    Thanks for the feedback.

Would you advise creating such a distributable application with Access? Also, is it possible to include Access Runtime in your installation files?

Any Access file is 'distributable'. But if you mean an application with an automated install process as in 'put cd in drive and respond to prompts', I've never done that but I'm sure many commercial developers have.

I think the Runtime can be included in the package.

Thank you. I have also been reading up on creating an Access web application as an alternative; what are your thoughts on this? Can you perhaps point me to some articles?

Closest I've come to that is brief experimentation using Cold Fusion to build data enabled web page that uses Access db.
