    Multivalue field in Subforms

    Hi,

I'm trying to build a form where the instructor only sees his or her students. I've built the Master form and have the subform in. The instructor needs to type both ID# and name to access (no pun intended) it. So far so good. I have several lookups that work in the subform, but I need the instructor to select all the courses a student is taking. This I cannot do. The multivalue field works in the Student table, in the query, and in a blank form BUT NOT when I make the subform?? The purpose of this is to allow each instructor to update his or her records without being able to change any other part of the database.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Tell us about your tables and relationships.
You've told us nothing about WHAT youre trying to do. You're focused on HOW.

You should NOT be using multivalued fields.

Okay. I want my instructors to be able to add to their student records. They need to input what correspondence courses their students are taking.

How about something along these lines:

Business Issue/Opportunity- WHAT is the issue/opportunity/problem to be solved.

A correspondence school has a number of Instructors.
The school offers a number of correspondence Courses.
The school wants a database accessible to the Instructors
    to record and manage which
of their Students take which Courses.

From several years of experience, I can assure you that knowing and communicating WHAT you are trying to do has nothing to do with Access or any other dbms.

Once you have a clear understanding of WHAT is required, you can then look for options as to HOW it may be accomplished.

I realize this is a first post, but multivalued fields and Forms is NOT where you start.

    Good luck with your project.
