Modelright for SQL Server Seeking information on company.

Hi all. I have been using Modelright for Access & SQL Server, for a development. I have been using them for years but all of a sudden they have gone silent. No Support email responses, no Phone responses. Does anyone have any information on the status of Modelright located at 66 Witherspoon St. Princeton NJ?

This may not be a correct posting for this forum but I suspect this would be the most likely forum to find any users of modeling software. If this is not appropriate please let me know and I will close it out immediately.

If they are out of business this leaves me in a very difficult position.

    Fred

I just went to their site and downloaded a trial for Access. So the web site is working.

Do they have a user group or forum? Perhaps others have more info.

Yes you can download. However when you email Support@modelright.com or call (609) 423-9279 no one's home. I've been trying for three weeks. I need them to reissue a key.

    Fred:
I sent an email to Modelright and got only a "canned" email response.

Can you contact any other users that you are aware of?

    Good luck.

I don't even get the canned email. But I will give it a try. I am trying a few different forums with the question. I don't think they have a user group.

    Thanks

I'd be interested in hearing any news you get.

Modelright reached me on LinkedIn. They are having severe problems with outbound email responses. Apparently the problem is with their ISP. Everything seems ok from the email. They are getting the info I need. So all is well.

Thanks Orange, I will close this out.

    Phred/Fred,

Just to advise that I did get a return email yesterday (attached) but that was it.
    No subsequent follow up.

I got this error when trying to install and run Modelright.

Glad you resolved the mystery, and do hope the company is OK.

I've used ErWin, Designmanger, LBMS, System Architect, Visio.. (mostly Erwin) but I hadn't heard of Modelright.

I've used ErWIN desktop but I think it is no longer available. Can't afford ErWIN. Also heard things were happening with ErWIN. Can't remember exactly but it was issues about future availability.

ModelRight is interesting. It sorely lacks user documentation and substitutes inadequate instructional Vids. That said, the Tech Support, Scott Reynolds, really makes up for it. It does not have a user forum that I know of. So basically you have to gut it out on your own.

Once you get the process sorted out and learn all the nuances it is full featured and quite powerful. I depend on it extensively. This is the first substantial problem I have encountered.

Depending on exactly what you are doing, there is a free Community Edition of ERWin. I use it in answering some questions of Access forums, but don't use it for reverse engineering or schema generation that I did when working. (Oracle and Access) I've been retired more than 7 years, so things have changed. http://erwin.com/products/data-model...munity-edition

Agree that full ErWin is quite expensive - we were a federal gov't department with corporate database, and data management group.

I hope Scott/Modelright gets back, I'd like to try it, but my projected usage is personal in support of posters on a few Access/database forums.
