Something Changed When I Delete A Table Field

When I delete a field in my table the data to the right of the field shifts to the left. It never did this before but now it is. What do you suggest?

The data doesn't shift, a column had been deleted. Therefore, the column to the right of the deleted column is 1 column closer to the left.

I don't understand. For example in Excel if I delete a column the column header and the data both shift over to the left. Here, in Access the Field Name stays put and the data in the column shifts to the left. So what I end up with is a Field Name called December with data from the next column over to the right it could be somebody's name. If I delete two fields then I end up with my Field Name with data from two columns over. I sure hope you can help. Thank you.
