Red face Setting up new database with restricted access and codes

    Hi,
beginner user of access, so these questions might seem really simple.
I want to design a database for keys stored and moved on and off the key board
    - Can this be done with Access?
    - Can I hide the key numbers until someone puts in their code and logs a key out (specific to one cell/key)
    - Am I making sense

    Thanks
    Justine

    Yes
    Yes
    Yes

However, securing an Access database can be somewhat involved. For starters, anyone aware of the shift key bypass can open an accdb file in development mode unless the shift key bypass is also disabled (password protected) with VBA code.

    Thank you June7,
I dont think that will be a problem, the other uses haven't even heard of access and wouldn't have the time to figure it out.

Another newbie question, feel free to answer after you stop laughing.....
I will be using online tutorials to teach myself how to set this all up but one of my biggest problems is wording, and using actual names of things I want to do.

I can enter stuff into the database, and make fields unique but how do I say hide column a until column c,d,e is filled in etc?

    TIA

You can use Conditional Formatting to set the Enabled property of textbox or combobox. Access Help has more info on Conditional Formatting. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...ffice.14).aspx
